  • Nitish Kumar will not contest from Phulpur in UP
  • Said – ‘I will only promote the new generation’
  • Speculations were being made after Lalan Singh’s statement

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar (Nitish Kumar) Refuting speculations that he may contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP on Tuesday said he only has ambitions of uniting opposition parties in the country. Pointing to the deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav standing behind him, he said that his aim is to promote the new generation. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, I have no personal ambition that I should get an MP or any other post in the country. My supporters may campaign for my name, but I want to fight the Lok Sabha elections strongly.

My aim is to unite the opposition

The way some people are dividing the society through Hindu-Muslim communal agenda to take advantage in BJP elections, I am against it and hence I am working for maximum opposition parties unity in the country to get success in 2024. I am working Lok Sabha elections and my efforts will continue. Further attacking the BJP, Nitish Kumar said that the present government at the Center is dividing the country. They are trying to control every organization including the media. You guys know better about this. No work has been done in the country by the central government. Strong opposition is in the interest of the country to teach a lesson to the people working on divisive politics.

Speculations were being made after Lalan Singh’s statement

JDU President Lalan Singh had given such indications in a statement that in the coming times, Nitish Kumar may contest the Lok Sabha elections from UP by tying up with the SP. He had said an alliance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav could defeat the mighty Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in neighboring Uttar Pradesh. Lalan Singh had clarified that the workers of Phulpur, Ambedkar Nagar and Mirzapur want Nitish to come from these areas and contest the elections. Although he also said that the election is still far away, its decision will be taken when the time comes. By the way, after this statement of Lalan Singh, BJP has also challenged Nitish. Former Deputy Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi said that Nitish Kumar should contest the Lok Sabha elections from anywhere, people will defeat him badly and he will not be able to save his deposit.
