Sharad Pawar: Lok Sabha elections are still two years away in 2024, but political parties have already started preparing for it. Meanwhile, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar made a big statement in Delhi on Wednesday, saying that one can consider contesting elections together under the Common Minimum Program and the opposition should come together.

Government did not fulfill the promises made in 2014: Pawar

Along with this, he also attacked the central government and its policies. He said that the government has not fulfilled the promises made in 2014, while all the opposition parties should unite in front of the present government. He said, “BJP has misused money and CBI and ED to break up MLAs in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka. This is what is being tried in Jharkhand. It has become a policy of BJP that this is the same across the country. Kind of working.”

Opposition unity needed in next elections: NCP Chief

Pawar said, “There is a need for unity of opposition in the next elections, elections should be fought on the basis of Common Minimum Programme. BJP’s aim is to oust only small parties from power. At the same time, Nitish Kumar left BJP and formed a separate government. I welcome this made.” However, this is not the first time when an attempt is being made to unite the opposition, even before this there have been many occasions when leaders of opposition parties have tried to come together.

Shinde has formed government with BJP in Maharashtra

It is noteworthy that in June this year in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde and 39 other MLAs rebelled against the party leadership, leading to the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition (Shiv Sena, NCP, Congress). After this Shinde formed the government in Maharashtra with the help of BJP. Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister on June 30 by Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis. Two NCP leaders Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik are currently in jail. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in separate cases of money laundering.
