Tesla Factory: A Tesla Megapack battery has caught fire in the US state of California, prompting local officials to advise employees to move to a shelter home. A fire broke out at local utility company PG&E’s Elkhorn Battery Storage in Monterey County, California on Tuesday morning, local media reported. However, no major accident has been reported so far.

The investigation into the reasons behind the incident continues

According to The Verge, no one was reported injured and the reasons behind the fire incident are being investigated. Local authorities later lifted the shelter-in-place advisory.

“The North County Fire Department and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office have removed the shelter-in-place advisory and all road closures for the hashtag Moss Landing Incident,” the public notice for Monterey County tweeted early Wednesday.

the fire was completely brought under control

He said the fire has been brought under control, but smoke could persist for several days in the area. The road closure lasted more than 12 hours and residents were asked to close all windows and turn off ventilation systems due to the occurrence of hazardous waste materials caused by the Tesla Megapack fire. The Elkhorn Battery Facility houses the 182.5 MW Tesla MegaPack system, originally announced in 2019.

Recently Musk revealed his next target

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has reportedly pushed for sustainable energy, brain implants and space exploration in an article published in a Chinese magazine run by the country’s internet watchdog and censorship agency. As The Verge reports, the July issue of China Cyberspace includes articles from Musk and Eric Jing Jiandong, CEO of Ant Group, the company that runs Chinese payments service Alipay.

Musk says the magazine invited him to share “his thoughts on technology and the human vision” and then went on to describe and promote the technology used by those companies.

Musk wants to build self-sufficient city on Mars

He cited some of his lofty goals as to what kind of technology his companies could (ultimately) build, such as a ‘self-sustaining city on Mars’ for humans ‘integrated with artificial intelligence’ and a ‘fixed Battery Bank’.
