Delhi LG orders disciplinary action against five police officers. Delhi LG orders disciplinary action against five police officers

Digital Desk, New Delhi. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Wednesday ordered disciplinary action against two SHOs, two SIs and one ASI of Delhi Police. An official of the LG’s office said, Assistant Sub Inspector Hira Lal, Sub Inspector Rahul Sagar, SI Ravi Poonia, present Station House Officer Harish Kumar and then SHO Sanjeev Gautam acted on a complaint received through PCR on August 8. Serious mistake. However, the complaint was made in 2018, where there was a case of Musa being physically assaulted by Farid and Shaan Ali.

In a complaint filed by Asma Bibi with the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) on 15.01.2019 it has been detailed that the PCR call made by her son Hasrat went unheeded by the IO, who neither got the victim medically examined Nor did he conduct any investigation against the accused.

On August 18, Asma Bibi’s brother Musa had to be admitted to GTB Hospital under MLC number A4670/40/18 and the information was given to the local police. FIR No 729/2018 u/s 323/341/34 IPC was registered by SI Ravi Poonia. The complainant Asma Bibi stated that the victim died due to injuries sustained on 08.12.2018 during the attack on 30.12.2018, but no appropriate action was taken by the IO. The police neither conducted any investigation, nor registered any FIR, nor filed any charge sheet with regard to the injury to the stomach caused by any sharp object and the subsequent death of the victim due to this injury. There was complete inaction on the part of the police officers dealing with the matter.

The PCA, after a thorough investigation into the matter, recommended appropriate action against the police personnel. The officer said that perusal of the report revealed that the police personnel themselves have admitted their omission/misconduct in their statement before the PCA. The LG has said in its order, the recommendation of the Police Complaints Authority is accepted. Delhi Police should be directed to initiate appropriate disciplinary action against the guilty police personnel as per rules.
