Rubaiya Sayeed Kidnapping case: The TADA Court in Jammu on Wednesday issued a production warrant against Yasin Malik on the next date of hearing in the Rubaiya Saeed kidnapping case. Rubaiya was kidnapped in Kashmir in 1989 and freed in exchange for the release of five terrorists. The next hearing of the case is on October 20. Earlier, Malik was insisting on appearing in the court. CBI counsel Monica Kohli said, “Rubaiya Saeed was cross-examined on behalf of the other accused.” “Yasin Malik has applied to appear in court, court has issued production warrant, Yasin Malik will be present on the next date of hearing.”

Yasin Malik was identified by Rubaiya Saeed on July 15

Malik and four others were identified on July 15 by Rubaiya Saeed, daughter of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and sister of former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti. In May this year, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court had sentenced separatist leader Yasin Malik to life imprisonment in the terror funding case.

Rubaiya Saeed kidnapping case reopened in 2019

The case of Rubaiya’s kidnapping was in a way shelved. However, its trial resumed in 2019 after the arrest of Yasin Malik on charges of financing terrorism by the NIA. In January last year, the CBI, with the help of Special Public Prosecutors Monica Kohli and SK Bhat, framed charges against ten people, including Yasin Malik, in the Rubia kidnapping case. During the hearing, Rubia recorded her statement before the special judge. They identified Yasin Malik and three others as their kidnappers.
