Uttar Pradesh: In April last year in Rawatpur area of ​​Kanpur, the relatives of the deceased kept his dead body in their house at a private hospital for so many days on the assumption that he was in a coma, and was alive. The deceased has been identified as Vimlesh Dixit, working in the Income Tax Department. The incident came to light on Friday when the policemen and magistrate, along with health officials, reached the man’s house to investigate a case and found the body there.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Alok Ranjan said, “Vimlesh Dixit died on April 22 last year, but the family was reluctant to perform the last rites as they believed Dixit was in a coma,” he said. “I was informed by the Income Tax officials of Kanpur, who requested a probe into the matter.” The CMO said when the medical team reached his house, the family members were insisting that Vimlesh was alive. and is in coma. Let us inform that when Vimlesh’s condition deteriorated during the second wave of Corona, the family brought him to Lucknow and then to Kanpur. On 22 April 2021, doctors declared him dead during treatment at a hospital in Birhna Road. On 23 April, when the family was going to perform the last rites, they realized the movement in the body.

Family members took great care of the dead body

When the family members saw with an oximeter, they started telling the pulse rate and oxygen level. Then the family tried to get them admitted to the hospital instead of performing the last rites, but due to the Kovid epidemic, there was panic in the whole city, so no hospital admitted them. After this, the bank officer’s wife, father, mother and two brothers living together joined the service. When the bodies were kept in the house for one and a half years and the Income Tax Department team reached home to investigate them, the death was revealed yesterday i.e. on 23 September 2022.

Wife used to rebuke Gangajal every day

After much persuasion, the family members allowed the health team to take the body to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital, where he was declared brought dead on medical examination. The CMO said that a three-member team consisting of Dr AP Gautam, Dr Asif and Dr Avinash has been constituted to investigate the matter and submit the report at the earliest. An official said on the condition of anonymity that Vimlesh’s wife used to sprinkle ‘Gangajal’ on the body every morning as she hoped that doing so would help her come out of her ‘coma’.

The official said the family had also told their neighbors that Vimlesh was in a coma. One of the neighbors told the police, “The family members were often seen carrying oxygen cylinders home.” Police said the body was completely decomposed. An official said that Dixit’s wife appears to be mentally weak. Kanpur Police said in a statement that the private hospital had stated in the death certificate that Vimlesh Dixit died on April 22, 2021 due to a sudden heart attack.
