Uttar Pradesh News: The trial court in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun has agreed to hear a plea claiming that the local Shamsi Jama Masjid was the site of the first Neelkanth Mahadev temple. The lower court will hear this application on September 15. Civil Judge (Senior Division) Vijay Gupta on Friday agreed to consider the suit on the claim on the mosque and fixed September 15 for the next hearing. Advocate Asrar Ahmed, appearing for the mosque, told that the court will hear his side on the next date. He has questioned the intent of the suit.

Mahipal’s fort and temple claim instead of mosque

A petition has been filed in the court on behalf of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha’s state convener Mukesh Patel and others, in which the place of Jama Masjid has been claimed to be the fort of Raja Mahipal and the temple of Neelkanth Mahadev in the east. The matter was first heard in the court whether this case should be accepted for hearing or not. Neelkanth Mahadev has been made the first litigant in the case. Advocate Arvind Parmar, one of the litigants, said that in the petition, the first plaintiff himself has been made Bhagwan Neelkanth Mahadev, while other litigants include Mukesh Patel, Gyan Prakash, Dr. Anurag Sharma and Umesh Chandra Sharma, state convener of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha besides him.

country’s third oldest mosque
In the petition, the plaintiffs have claimed the mosque to be the Neelkanth Mahadev temple by quoting historical books. The plaintiffs have also cited its history mentioned in the book Information Diary to be published by the Department of Information and Public Relations. It is noteworthy that the Jama Masjid of Badaun is included in the category of the largest mosques in the country and it is said to be the seventh largest mosque. It is also the third oldest mosque in the country after Delhi’s Jama Masjid. Ved Prakash Shahu, counsel for the petitioners, told that the court has accepted the suit for hearing. Advocate Asrar Ahmed appeared on behalf of Jama Masjid and raised questions on the existence of the temple. Ahmed said that the court would hear the side of the arrangement committee of the mosque for the next hearing.
