Nigeria: A major incident has occurred from the north-western state of Nigeria, Jamfara. Gunmen kidnapped dozens of people from a mosque here on Friday. This information has been given by the Nigeria Police. Armed gangs are active in the north-west of Nigeria, where they carry out robbery and kidnapping for ransom. Security forces often fail to stop their attacks.

A large number of people kidnapped from Jumu’at Central Mosque

According to reports, Jamfara Police spokesman Mohammad Shehu said that a large number of people were kidnapped from Jumu’at Central Mosque in Jugu town of Bukkuyum area. However, the number of people who have been kidnapped is not yet known. He said that the state police command has started search and rescue operation with the help of army and outposts. We’ll get everyone out soon.

Everyone came hiding the gun under the clothes

Ibrahim Aminu, who was present in the mosque, said that the gunmen had hidden guns under their clothes. As soon as they arrived, they all joined the people offering Namaz in the mosque and started pretending to be common people. He said that shortly after entering the mosque premises, he took out his weapons and opened fire in the air, forcing people to flee to hide. The gunmen have kidnapped dozens of worshipers and forcibly taken them to an undisclosed location.

The army launched air strikes against armed gangs last month

Local citizen Mohammad Booker Jugu said his 22-year-old brother was also among those abducted. The gunmen later called from his brother’s phone to call him and told him to keep the ransom ready. The Nigerian military last month launched an airstrike against armed gangs known locally as bandits. Dozens have been killed in these attacks so far.
