Queen Elizabeth II Funeral: India’s President Draupadi Murmu is among 500 foreigners invited to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. This is Draupadi Murmu’s first foreign tour after becoming the President. India’s President Draupadi Murmu has arrived in London to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II of Britain. The information about Draupadi Murmu reaching London was given through her official Twitter handle. In a tweet accompanying her photo at the London airport, it was told that she would express condolences on behalf of India on the death of Queen Elizabeth and attend her funeral.

Invitation given to top leaders around the world

In 1965, the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill, who was Prime Minister during World War II, was the first state funeral in Britain. After that, it is going to take place, in which the Emperor of Japan, the King and Queen of Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain will be present. Leading the list of heads of state are United States President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron. Germany is following protocol by sending its chief of state president, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and not Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the head of government.

About 500 leaders from around the world will attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. It will include President Joe Biden of America, leaders of Commonwealth countries and the Royal Family of Europe and other leaders of the world. No leaders have been invited from Belarus and Myanmar, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. Draupadi Murmu has been invited to a state reception at Buckingham Palace in London, which is being hosted by King Charles-III. He will be welcoming foreign dignitaries today on Sunday. Arriving guests paid their last respects and paid tribute to the Queen’s body placed in a coffin at Westminster Hall of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

The Earl Marshal of the Duke of Norfolk, overseeing the large scale arrangements, told the media: “It is our intention and belief that the Queen’s state funeral will unite people around the world.” More than 2,000 guests will arrive at Westminster Abbey in central London. The body of the Queen has been in the Palace of Westminster for several days. It is estimated that 750,000 British and foreign guests have paid their last respects to the Queen. Around 4,000 personnel of the Armed Forces will participate in the event. It is estimated that billions of viewers will watch the Queen’s funeral on television.

Chinese Vice President may attend Funeral

Chinese President Xi Jinping was invited. This was objected to by some British Members of Parliament. Instead of him, Vice President of China Wang Qishan can represent the People’s Republic. Russia, Belarus, Syria, Myanmar, Afghanistan and Venezuela are among the few countries not on the guest list. North Korea has been invited at the level of ambassador.

The dress code prescribed for members of the British royal family for the event has been the subject of much debate in the UK media.
