TLP Attack on Pakistan Shia Muslims

Pakistan Shia Muslims: Once again a big ruckus has been seen on the streets in Pakistan. Here activists of the radical Islamic organization Tehreek-e-Labbaik attacked Shia Muslims mourning. In which at least 13 people were injured. The police gave this information on Sunday. All the 13 injured are from the Shia community. A police officer said that many of them were in critical condition due to head injuries. According to the FIR, the Shia procession was on Saturday going to Imamburg in Sialkot, which is 130 km from Lahore. This procession was related to the Chehallum of Imam Hussain. Just then a group of men carrying pistols and stones started attacking the people involved in the procession.

Chehallum is a religious event of the Shia community, which is celebrated to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. Imam Hussain was martyred on the 10th of the month of Muharram. According to the FIR, more than a dozen people in mourning have been injured, who were taken to the hospital for treatment. Tension was brewing in the area for the past few days between Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and Shia activists over the route of the procession, a senior police officer said on Sunday.

What was the dispute about?

The whole controversy was about the procession being taken out in front of the mosque. An official, who did not wish to be identified, said, “The local TLP leaders wanted the Shia procession not to pass in front of the temple (where the madrasa is also located). But the Shia community was firm that the path by which they have been taking out this procession every year, will go to Imamburg via the same route.

Terrorism case against 30 people

Sialkot police chief Faizal Kamran says that the police force reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. However, the attackers managed to escape. The police chief said that 30 suspects have been booked on terrorism charges. But so far no one has been arrested. He said that keeping in view the law and order situation, police force has been deployed in the area and several police teams have been formed to nab the suspects.
