Asia Cup 2022: The Indian team has suffered a major setback ahead of a potentially crucial match against Pakistan on Sunday. Team India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been out of the team due to injury. According to the BCCI, Jadeja has suffered a right knee injury due to which he will not be able to play further in the Asia Cup tournament. In place of injured Saurashtra player, Gujarat all-rounder Axar Patel has been included in the team.

Ravindra Jadeja out of Asia Cup

The BCCI shared the news of Jadeja’s injury on Twitter. The Indian board wrote in its official media advisory, “Axar Patel is replacing Ravindra Jadeja in the Asia Cup squad. The All India Senior Selection Committee has made Axar Patel the replacement of Ravindra Jadeja in the ongoing Asia Cup. Jadeja has suffered a right knee injury and has been ruled out of the tournament. Currently, he is under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. His replacement, Axar Patel, was earlier included in the squad as a standby and will be joining the team in Dubai soon.”

Jadeja’s decisive innings against Pakistan

Jadeja batted at number four against Pakistan, coming above Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya. He had broken the maze of Pakistan trying to surround India by putting spinners on the attack. Jadeja came to the crease in a difficult situation with 35 runs off 29 balls to lay the foundation for India’s victory against Archrivals and also built the building. Jadeja also bowled very economical in this match. Although he did not get any wicket, he gave only 11 runs in 2 overs.

Jadeja will be missed if India-Pakistan match takes place

In such a situation, according to the possibility, India will face Pakistan on Sunday 4 September when Pakistan reaches Super 4. In this potential great match, the Indian team under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma may miss this star all-rounder a lot.

India’s squad for Asia Cup:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice-Captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dinesh Karthik (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan
