BCCI named Replacement: Team India has suffered a major setback before the T20 series against Australia. Team’s experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the entire series after being infected with Corona. In his place, the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) has included Umesh Yadav in the replacement squad. An official statement issued by the BCCI said that fast bowler Mohammed Shami will not be able to participate in the upcoming three-match T20 series against Australia due to being Kovid-19 positive. The selection committee has decided to include Umesh Yadav in the replacement team in his absence.

Shami is not in the main team for T20 World Cup

Shami has been kept in the list of reserve players for the upcoming T20 World Cup. While he was kept in the main team for the home series against Australia. While resting Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh for the three-match series, Shami was given a chance to prepare himself here. But Shami did not reach Mohali with the team on Saturday and the news of him being Corona positive came. After this, it was confirmed by the BCCI today that he was out of the entire series on Sunday.

Umesh Yadav left the county and returned home

It is worth noting that Umesh Yadav, who replaced Shami, had left the county tournament in London and reached Bengaluru after complaining of a muscle strain. But after Shami became Kovid, he was hurriedly added to the team.

Umesh’s performance was excellent in domestic cricket and T20 league

Talking about Umesh Yadav, he has not played a single international match for the last three years but he has performed brilliantly in domestic cricket and T20 league. He recently played in the ODI format in the county and took 16 wickets while playing for Middlesex here. Apart from this, he took 20 wickets in 16 matches for Gujarat Titans in IPL and played an important role in making the team champion.

Talking about Umesh’s T20I career, he has played seven matches for Team India and has taken 9 wickets at an average of 24.33 and economy of 8.76. Interestingly, Umesh also played his last international match against Australia. He had conceded a lot of runs in this match played in Visakhapatnam on 24 February 2019 and could not take a single wicket. He had spent 35 runs in four overs here. Australia won this match by three wickets.
