Mohammed Shami Covid Positive: The Indian team has suffered a major setback ahead of the 3-match T20 series against Australia starting on September 20. Team’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of this series. According to the information received, Shami’s Kovid test was done on Saturday in which his result has come positive. Because of this, he did not reach Mohali where the Indian team has to play the first T20 International match of the series against Australia on 20 September.

Mohammed Shami ruled out of series against Australia

All the players of the Indian team reached Mohali for the first match on Saturday 17th September, after which the concerned officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the team management got information about Shami’s non-arrival and Kovid positive result. It is believed that the Australian team has also reached Mohali for the first match.

The second T20 match of the series between India and Australia will be played in Nagpur on 23 September while the third and final match of the series will be played in Hyderabad on 25 September.

Shami’s play in the series against South Africa uncertain

Nothing can be said about whether Shami will be able to take part in the three-match T20 series against South Africa. His entry into the field with Team India will depend on his Kovid result coming negative. The three-match T20I series against South Africa will begin in Guwahati on September 28, while the second match will be played in Thiruvananthapuram on October 2 and the final match of the series will be held in Indore on October 4.

Big blow for Mohammed Shami

Of course, this is also a big setback for Shami. He was about to return to the T20 International team after almost a year on the way to the upcoming series against Australia. He played the last T20 match for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup held in UAE last year.
