Pakistan Women’s Team: During a tournament, a Pakistani journalist asked the manager of her country’s national women’s football team a question that surprised everyone. The Pakistani journalist was also criticized a lot for this question. This whole matter is during the ongoing SAIF Championship in Kathmandu.

Pakistani journalist objected to women players wearing shorts

A Pakistani journalist objected to the team’s players wearing shorts soon after Pakistan beat Maldives by seven goals. In the post-match press conference, the correspondent asked the team’s manager and other officials, “As you know we belong to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan which is an Islamic country, I want to ask why these girls wore shorts. Are you wearing leggings, why not?” Especially after the team’s victory, everyone found it awkward to talk about the girls’ dress instead of the match.

Pakistani journalist sharply criticized

Many criticized the reporter for not focusing on the clothes of the players and not talking about their achievements and victories. The team manager praised British-Pakistani footballer Nadia Khan for scoring four out of seven goals.

Adil Rizki, the coach of the women’s team, was most surprised by this question of the Pakistani journalist. He said that everyone should be progressive in sports. “As far as the dress is concerned, we have never tried to stop anyone, it is something we don’t control,” he said.

Pakistani public condemned the journalist

Such a question from the reporter in the video triggered a debate on social media. TV presenter and RJ Anushi Ashraf, squash player Noorena Shams and many others came out in support of the women players of Pakistan team and reprimanded the reporter for her narrow mindset. Others also criticized the reporter, saying he should not have covered the event if he had problems seeing players in shorts.
