Yuvraj Harbhajan PCA Stadium: The first match of the three-match T20 International series between India and Australia is being played at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali. Before the start of this match, Punjab Cricket Association dedicated two special stands of this stadium to two former great cricketers of India. The Punjab Cricket Association on Tuesday officially named the famous Terrace Block of the IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali after former India great off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. At the same time, the northern stand of the stadium was named after former Indian great all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was also present at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium to honor and felicitate these legends of Indian cricket on the occasion.

Yuvraj Singh gets emotional

Yuvraj came on this occasion wearing a BCCI blazer. When he was asked about this blazer, he got emotional. “It feels good to be back like this at the PCA Stadium. This is the first time I am wearing a BCCI blazer in my stadium. It feels great to be called upon by my former union.”

He further said, “Gulzari Inder Chahal, the new President of PCA, was a cricketer himself. He knows the importance of honoring former cricketers be it domestic or international. Domestic players should also be honoured.

Honor to two legends of Indian cricket

Yuvraj and Harbhajan Singh, both these Indian cricketers have got the distinction of becoming world champions not once but twice. Both these legends were an important part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup teams. Yuvraj made a tremendous record in the 2007 T20 World Cup by hitting six consecutive sixes in six balls in an over of Stuart Broad. At the same time, he got the Player of the Tournament title for his all-round performance in the 2011 World Cup. Yuvraj played 40 Tests, 304 One Day Internationals and 58 T20 Internationals for India in his international career and combined all three formats, he scored 11,778 runs and took 148 wickets. He scored 17 centuries and 71 half-centuries in his career.

Talking about Harbhajan Singh, he played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20 Internationals in his career and took a total of 711 wickets in all these formats. Harbhajan is India’s fourth highest wicket-taker in Test cricket after Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kapil Dev.

Mahesh Inder Singh, Bhupinder Singh (Sr.), Bharti Vij, Vikram Rathor and Harvinder Singh were also honored for their contribution to Punjab and Indian cricket on this special occasion.
